Summer Community Education Enrichment Courses for Adults and Kids Camps

Starlab: A Summer Sky Gazing Evening with Scott Slonim
Date: June 28
Time: 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Location: BCRD Gym
Tuition: $5 per person and includes a free pass to the Faulkner Planetarium in Twin Falls.

Explore the summer night sky in this amazing brand new portable planetarium. Bring the whole family and learn to identify a variety of constellations, including Native American and Greek constellations, and you’ll learn some of the stories behind them.

Ants and Plants with Ann Christensen
Dates: July 17-20
Time: 12:00-3:00 p.m .
Tuition: $90
Location: Meet daily at Hemingway Elementary
7-12 year olds get dirty and learn about botany, geology, ecology while visiting local rivers, forests, ponds, meadows, and sagebrush areas.

This year, we are excited to partner with 4H to bring the following camps to the Wood River Valley. All 4H camps are at the CSI Blaine County Center. A Healthy lunch and snack provided each day.

4H WeDo 2.0 Robotics Camp                
Dates: June 14-15
Times: 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.     
Tuition: $120  
Location: Community Campus
5-8 year olds discover the world of robotics and programming as they learn to build and program moving robots. To finish the camp, kids create a robot game and compete.

4H Coding Camp
Dates: June 29-30
Times: 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.   
Tuition: $120  
Location: Community Campus
8-12 year olds learn the most popular code languages and how to use them. Create codes to solve problems and create challenges for others to code. The final challenge is to create a simple game.

4H EV3 Robotics Camp
Dates: July 12 & 13 
Times: 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.   
Tuition: $120                       
Location: Community Campus
Kids 8 and above will learn to build and program robots to make strategic moves and complete simple to hard tasks using the Lego EV3 generation.

4H Robotics Camp EVE3 PLUS
Dates: July 19 & 20     
Times: 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Tuition: $120     
Location: Community Campus

Kids 8 and above will build & program with sensors making robots do tricks like respond to color and light or pair several sensors to make tasks flawless.

Basic Dog Obedience Boot Camp
Dates: Fridays, May 26 - June 30
Time:6:00-7:00 p.m.
Tuition: $125
Location: Outside at the Community Campus
This boot camp is for both you and your dog! Spend six weeks developing effective training techniques and forging a mutually-beneficial relationship between you and your dog. The class will cover basic commands: sit, down, attention, leave it, stay, and heel (on short and long leads). The instructor, Barb Williams, graduated from the Animal Behavior College and trains hunting dogs, search and rescue dogs, and pets.
CLASS REQUIREMENTS

  • Bring proof of current vaccinations.
  • Bring a buckle collar, six-foot leash, 20-30 foot line, and tasty dog treats.
  • Dogs should not have fear or aggression issues with other dogs.
  • A commitment to working with your dog as part of a team.
  • A commitment to be a well-mannered and considerate of others and their dog.

LANGUAGES
Sun Valley Summer Spanish Institute
The Sun Valley Summer Spanish Institute provides a unique opportunity for adult students to develop their Spanish language skills and to broaden their knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures. The intensive week-long format and diverse activities are designed to challenge motivated learners in a fun and friendly atmosphere. The morning academic classes range from a true beginning level to an advanced level. The afternoon workshops range from grammar to music to yoga to dancing and more.

MARKETING
Marketing Your Business with Facebook 101
Dates: Thursdays, July 6-27
Time: 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Tuition: $88

Marketing and branding your business is vital to attracting new customers and clients, but how does one even begin on Facebook? Learn a variety of basic and key Facebook techniques, including but not limited to: creating an account, crafting a catchy post, hashtags, using graphics and videos, and live streaming. This workshop also invites you to bring any questions you may have about Facebook.
