S.O.A.R. is an all day program that is required for all students who are new to college and are degree seeking. All recent high school graduates must also attend S.O.A.R., even if you took dual credit college classes while in high school. S.O.A.R. is designed to introduce you to the essential tools for success at the College of Southern Idaho.

Is S.O.A.R. mandatory?
Your attendance is mandatory. Research shows that students who participate in orientation programs are more likely to be successful in college and persist to graduation.
What if I cannot attend S.O.A.R.?
You are encouraged to rearrange your vacation or work obligations in order to attend. We offer various sessions in order to accommodate many schedules. Start your year off right at CSI with the foundation that orientation provides.
Can I bring a parent/guest?
Having a support network can be an important element of your success. During S.O.A.R., a parent/ guest may attend. In fact, we have special sessions just for them. A minimal fee of $10 will be charged each guest to cover the cost of their meal. Please let us know that you will have a parent/guest with you when you RSVP to attend S.O.A.R.
What do I need to do to be prepared for S.O.A.R.?
You will have an opportunity to take your Student ID card photo, so be prepared for a picture. Also, come with:

After meeting with an advisor, registration is completed online in mycsi. (See the instructions above.)
How long is a S.O.A.R. session?
Check in for S.O.A.R. begins at 8:45 a.m. with the event beginning at 9:30 am and ending at 3:00 pm. This will provide you with time either before or after the session should you choose to visit various offices on campus to complete your business (Bookstore, Financial Aid office, etc.). An optional campus tour is available at the end of S.O.A.R.
